Do not put neogeo.zip in the same folder as your games. RetroArch cores look for it in the System folder exclusively. Stick with FinalBurn Neo
Cores like FinalBurn Neo are often tailored to specific (e.g., FBN 1.0.0.01). Using a ROMset that doesn't match your core version can lead to missing files or games that won't load [3]. Content Directory: Browse to your Neo Geo games folder
Inside the exact same folder where your Neo Geo game ROMs are stored.
However, emulating the Neo Geo is notoriously trickier than emulating a SNES or Genesis. Between BIOS files, ROM sets, and core-specific quirks, many users give up when greeted by a black screen or a "missing files" error.
