After the massive success of the Netflix series Beef , in which Choe had a prominent role, clips of the podcast resurfaced and went massively viral in 2023. The reaction was swift and brutal. Instead of a public relations campaign, Choe launched a legal one. Using his personal foundation, he began issuing to anyone reposting the podcast clip, successfully having it scrubbed from much of the internet. In his defense, Choe has consistently claimed the story was a "fictional" piece of storytelling and art. He called it "bad storytelling in the style of douche" and argued that he is not a rapist, emphasizing that he hated rapists and fabricated the encounter.
